This is more or less a continuation of my previous post.   Hey y'all! I've been wanting to post about this for a while but I wasn't quite sure what all I wanted to write. One of my favourite recent artists has been Punkitt; y'all should check her out! Her art's been really fun and inspirational, plus kinda helped me get back into drawing. Especially her Horsecomix series.

  A friend recently recommended me a couple songs from this album because they felt I'd like or resonate with them (specifically Transvestites Can Be Cannibals Too and That Time of the Month because of how much I talk about cannibalism and werewolf and other monstrous girls) and so I decided to check the whole album out and honestly immediately fell in love.

  I don't really have a whole lot of experience with folk, pretty exclusively just Pete Seeger and other old union folk songs, let alone folk punk, so I can't really say how this compares to other folk and folk punk. Similarly, I don't know any of Harley Poe's other music but I plan to check out more in the future. Regardless, I love the usage of horror themes and exploration of trauma and queerness.

Personally, my favourite songs are Everybody Knows My Name, Transvestites Can Be Cannibals Too, That Time of the Month, I Am the Living Dead, and Vampire's Night Out. But honestly the whole album is full of bangers. So I suggest giving it a listen if you like more upbeat music with macabre themes. Though I will have to give a big content warning for discussions of childhood sexual abuse in Father McKee.

MAILPUP - PUPPYPLAY! (feat. salv the dog and femtanyl)

  Yesterday, MAILPUP, salv the dog, and femtanyl dropped a collab track called PUPPYPLAY!. To unintentionally continue on the theme of music with a nostalgic vibe that started in the last update, this track's composition and sound-design brings me back to the a lot of nightcore and techno I heard on early youtube, but with a more hardcore flare.

  Prior to this release and salv the dog's cover of MURDER EVERY 1 U KNOW! by femtanyl (which I also hardcore recommend), I wasn't really familiar with MAILPUP or salv the dog (and I'm still not really). Just taking a brief look into their discogs and coming in as a fan of femtanyl, that all of these artists' works are intentionally evocative of various nostalgic soundscapes and visual elements. If you're not familiar with femtanyl, my favourite songs to recommend are MURDER EVERY 1 U KNOW! (feat. takihasdied), GIRL HELL 1999, and LOVESICK, CANNIBAL! (feat. takihasdied), but honestly her whole discog is great.

  Overall this track is just a banger and I definitely recommend it. Also check out the hundhuset website since it has direct links to salv the dog and MAILPUP's music but I should give a warning photosensitivity warning first, and make sure to check out femtanyl's bandcamp page :3

  I've been listening to this album a lot recently. I think it's become one of my favourite albums currently. It has a specific indescribable vibe that I really resonate with. Something about the specific instrumentation combined with the lyrics definitely leaves me with a nostalgic melancholy, in part because of how uncomfortable familiar some of the feelings expressed in this song are personally.

  One thing I've been trying to do is channeling the nostalgic melancholy into my writing. I'm not sure how much I'm willing to share currently, but I definitely want to tap into that energy during it.

  My favourite songs off this album would have to be The World Ends with You, Hate One an Otter, and Who the Fuck is Mark?, though Knit Hat and the namesake song Pictures of Your Pets are really impactful to me. All-in-all, this is a fantastic album and I highly recommend it :3

  As my first post on my blog here, I figured I should just post the tumblr post and piece of art I've made that I'm the most proud of, so I hope you all enjoy.

  I don't know how much I'll actually post my artwork here since I don't do as much art as I'd like to but I wanted to share this in particular. I'm so excited to keep updating this website honestly. Learning to code to make a neocities has unironically been so much fun :3
